September Open Day

There are two club Open Days each year held at the club premises.

Next open day to be held on September 17th 2023
Admission is just £1 for Adults and 50p Children , under 5 free. Open from 10am to 4pm.

Club open days provide the type of day out that can be enjoyed by the keen model railway enthusiast those who are just getting started or all the family looking for some entertainment. It doesn’t matter what age you are ‘girl’ or ‘boy’ there will be something of interest. Children and perhaps not surprisingly adults enjoy putting Thomas through his paces or maybe you would like to try the shunting puzzle. Shunting trucks into the right order is easy (or is it) try your hand at our fun puzzle you might find it harder than you think.

The North East the ‘cradle of the railways’ has a fascinating railway history. In this connection the club are developing a number of local stations. Depending on space and availability visitors can expect to see at least some of the those being modelled, to include Grosmont, Picton, Stockton, Northallerton and Thornaby. Other North Eastern stations that have previously been exhibited are Marske and Guisborough. All of these stations are likely to have appeared at the 2016 exhibition that will have a strong North East railway theme.

We would normally have demonstrations of scratch and kit building. At the very least club members (Red shirts with Club Logo and big smiles) would point you in the direction of those members who have these skills.

Another interesting project is the Skiningrove ZigZag which is currently being recreated jointly with The Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum.

Light refreshments are available, a couple of traders and second-hand sales stand.
